How do I clean the skirting boards?

Skirting boards: your home is filled with them, but do you clean them regularly? Skirting boards add the finishing touch to a room. However, due to their low position, they collect a lot of dust and dirt. For some reason, cleaning them often gets overlooked. That's why I have some handy tips for you to properly clean those skirting boards!

Tip from Davina:

Use clean dryer sheets to keep your skirting boards dust-free for longer. Dust is less likely to stick due to their static effect.

Let's get started

Tip 1: Clean the skirting boards regularly

Prevention is better than cure, especially when it comes to cleaning. Therefore, frequently wipe down the skirting boards to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt. Use the Dust Magnet to reach all the corners effectively.

Tip 2: Include the skirting boards when vacuuming

Almost all vacuum cleaners nowadays come with a brush head attachment. This soft brush is ideal for cleaning the skirting boards without causing any damage.

Tip 3: Use a solution of water and a little dish soap

If your skirting boards need a thorough cleaning, a nice solution of water and a few drops of dish soap will suffice. Dip a soft sponge into the solution, squeeze it almost dry, and use it to clean the skirting boards. Then, use a microfibre cloth and clean water to remove the soapy solution. Finish by wiping with a dry microfibre cloth, and your skirting boards will be clean again.

Tip 4: Use vinegar for stubborn stains

If dish soap is not strong enough, create a mixture of 1 cup of white vinegar and 5 cups of warm water. Dip a microfibre cloth or sponge into the mixture, wring it out well, and gently rub it over the stain. The dirt will loosen, allowing you to remove it with the dish soap solution.
